The picture of the life of a writer is stereotypically self-isolating, and driven by the same romanticism that followed such poets as Shelley, Keats, Byron and Chatterton. Fast forward many years and countless genre splinters in print and film, the cadre of dystopian proponents now have new fuel as they sit hunched over their computers in the dark corners of their abodes. The fuel is not the COVID-19 itself. The fuel is simply the question; ‘What comes next?’. How will the aftermath of the COVID-19 virus impact mood, genre, and the overall output of material within the book and film industry? Of course, there will be necessary change to many areas of life. Some permanent, others temporary. Will we ever go back to normal? What is normal? The lightning fast response of the internet is very efficient at spreading fears and hope in that regard. Opinions abound regarding whether or not life will ever be the same. When I do think that the world will most likely go through a creatively dark period for the time, I do think history has proven that there is always light at the end of the tunnel. We writers hurtle ourselves now into a extended, forced, self-therapy session. Keep Writing. #screenwriting #film #filmindustry #writing #COVID-19
